Biography
Leandros Taliotis, Baritone
Leandros Taliotis was born in London. He studied at Cambridge University and was subsequently awarded a scholarship to the Royal College of Music. In 2003 he was invited to the International Opera Studio in Flanders where he sang the role of Sid in Albert Herring as well as excerpts of the roles of Figaro (Barbiere di Siviglia), Oreste (Iphigenie en Tauride), Michele (Il Tabarro) and Jack Rance (La fanciulla del west). In July 2007, Leandros was selected to take part in the final rounds of the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing competition in Vienna. He currently studies with Russell Smythe and has participated in masterclasses with Sir. Thomas Allen, Regina Resnik, Roger Vignoles, Phillip Langridge, Wolfgang Holzmair, Friedrich Gürtler, Charles Mackerras and Elisabeth Söderström.

Britten and Mr. Page The Merry Wives of Windsor (Surrey Opera), Tarquinius The Rape of Lucretia and Adonis The Judgement of Calliope - Henze (Dartington Festival) Lakai Ariadne auf Naxos (Aldeburgh Productions) Papageno Die Zauberflöte (Opera School Wales), Sharpless Madame Butterfly Elviro Xerxes and Junius The Rape of Lucretia (British Youth Opera) and Polyphonus Donkeys Shadow (ENO/Covent Garden Festival). Leandros was recently engaged at last-minute to sing Belcore in the final dress rehearsals of Deutsche-oper-am-Rhein’s new production of L’elisir d’amore in Duisburg.
A busy solo concert schedule has included engagements in Belgium, Holland, Germany, Japan, France, Greece, The Seychelles and throughout the United Kingdom. Highlights include the European premiere of Christos Hatzis Everlasting Light in Athens and the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, Carmina Burana in Antwerp and Ghent, Walton Belshazzar’s Feast, the world premiere of Will Todd A Song of Creation, Mahler Das Lied von der Erde, Recitals at the Warwick and Leamington Festival and London’s Hellenic centre (Young Greek Masters series), as well as performances of the major oratorio repertoire.
During the 2008-2009 season, Leandros was engaged by Deutsche Oper am Rhein with roles in Verdi’s Don Carlos and Dvorak's Rusalka in Duisburg and Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo and a new production of Janacek’s From the House of the Dead in Düsseldorf.
